Day Island Octoshines

August 8

Find Day Island Octoshines on Sat., Aug. 8!

A treasure hunt featuring several dozens of individually marbled wood cut-out octopuses is coming to Day Island! To participate, just walk, ride or roll the island on Aug. 8 looking high and low. The 3″ cepholopods will be hanging in tree branches, tucked behind bushes, or set alongside rocks. And, one very special 8-armed friend is also your ticket to a GRAND PRIZE from Octavia’s trove – a beautiful original art piece turntable crafted and donated by island artist Susie Cowan!

Note: please don’t wander onto private property; Octoshines will only be placed in public areas and will not require you to step on flowers or plants to reach them.

The goal of Octoshines shines is to spread joy! In that spirit, please don’t take more than two (per person). Feel free to snap a photo, or trade up if you find one you like better (just re-hide one of your original finds), but leave the extras for others to seek and find. And, more of these treasures will continue to emerge throughout the day, so keep looking!

Want to contribute to the fun? Create and place “rogue” #DayIslandRocks for the finding on public property or within an arm’s reach of the public road right-of-way on your own private property on Aug. 8.

Have fun and good luck!

P.S. Big thanks to Susie, Carrie, The Day Island Club, and Octoshine artists Phoebe, Duke and Will! Also to Monkeyshines and Mrs.Monkey, for inspiring this one-day activity.
